bti Open 2016 – The International Professional Golf Tournament co-Sanctioned by PGTI & BPGA
bti open, the professional international golf tournament, sponsored by bti and co sanctioned by PGTI (Professional Golf Tour of India) and BPGA (Bangladesh Professional Golf Association) was recently held at the picturesque Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka from 30th March to 2nd April 2016.
The tournament featured renowned players from Bangladesh including Siddikur Rahman, Jamal Hossain Mollah, Md Sajib Ali and others. From India, the challenging participants were Feroz Ali Mollah, Shamim Khan, and others while Srilanka was represented by Anura Rohana, N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran. A total of 120 players participated in the 72-hole stroke-play tournament.
The last day of the tournament, 2nd April saw a brilliant play off of the star players at KGC. Bangladesh golf favorite Siddikur Rahman (66-70-66-71) battled for the winning position with Md. Sajib Ali (66-68-73-66) and finally his perseverance paid off with a birdie on the first playoff hole at the INR 35 lakh event.
Md. Sajib Ali who became the runner up gave a tough play for Siddikur Rahman with his fine golf playing skills and emerged as the contender against Siddikur Rahman, after Indian Sujjan Singh dropped out of the competition coming in third in the tournament.
Siddikur Rahman, a two-time winner of the Asian Tour, expressed great delight in winning the title especially on the home course.
