The sixth edition of bti Open kicks off at KGC
bti Open 2018, an international professional golf tournament kicked off at the serene Kurmitola Golf Club on April 24, 2018. The tournament is tri-sanctioned by Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), Bangladesh Professional Golfers’ Association, and Asian Development Tour (ADT) and sponsored by bti.
The four-day professional golf tournament will have a prize purse of BDT 50 lacs and will showcase a total of 132 players from 14 different countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Argentina, Finland, Sweden, Thailand, Wales, New Zealand, and USA.
The tournament will be a 72-hole stroke play, featuring several prominent golfers from the South Asian region, including the country’s own star-golfer Siddikur Rahman. Two-time PGTI winner – Jamal Hossain Mollah will also participate alongside Dulal Hossain, and Shakhawat Hossain Sohel from the host nation.
A pre-event press conference was held at KGC, where the trophy for the event was unveiled in the presence of PGTI CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, BPGA president Asif Ibrahim, leading PGTI golfer Honey Baisoya, and other members and officials from the respective organizations. The chairman of bti commented that the organization is an active supporter of promoting golf in Bangladesh and this is the sixth time bti has been the title sponsor of the tournament.
Mr. Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of PGTI also expressed his pleasure to work jointly with the BPGA for the third time in one calendar year. He hoped that the sixth edition of bti Open 2018 will contribute to the cause of the development of young professional golfers in the region and wished the participants all the best.
The ace-golfer Siddikur Rahman expressed his delight at being able to play on the home front once more and looks forward to facing the challenge and winning.
